Our Church

On the first Sunday of December 1982, Pastors David and Vicki Shearin held our first service in a home for the very first service. Alongside them were just five people—including Andy Visser, who would later serve as Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor. From that small beginning, the church quickly grew, moving first to a hotel meeting room, then into a storefront where new spaces were added again and again to keep up with the crowd. During those years, Pastor David cast the vision to “Arise and Build,” and the congregation began giving toward a permanent home. In 1990, land was purchased, and by 1994, services began in the sanctuary we still call home today. What started with seven people has now grown into a church family of over 2,000, with Word of Life Christian Academy, the Bible Institute, The Word for Living television outreach, and many other ministries carrying the vision forward.
